Hi All, Thanks to all the instructors for their contributions and all students and club members who attended the Twinset Diver SDC at the weekend. I’m sure you all agree it was a very thought provoking and worth while course! Unfortunately we ran a little short on time towards the end and didn’t have as much time on planning and kit preparation as we would have liked, therefore we will be recapping on those two elements at 1.30pm at the clubhouse on Saturday the 21st February followed by the pool session. We will decide the date of the open water modules after the pool assessment, as I say kit configuration will occur prior to the pool session but to help on time can you please make sure … 1- your kit is configured so you can reach all isolators. 2- Hoses are out of the way and streamlined. 3- you have at least 1 long DV hose. Andy H will be at the pool this Saturday for anyone wanting to practice before hand. Remember this Saturday is the AGM it would be great to see as many club members as we can after the pool session! Please note that the following Saturday (14th) the clubhouse is closed so after pool social will be in the Travs. Kind regards Steve Cheesmond Diving Officer BSAC Mansfield 735

PLEASE NOTE THE DATES FOR THIS SDC HAVE BEEN AMENDED Hi All, This year we are going to be running some Skill Development Courses (SDC’s) within the club, some of which have not yet been run within the East Midlands region, therefore will be open as regional SDC’s. The first course runs on Saturday 31st January at the clubhouse and Sunday 1st February at Stoney Cove. This is the “Twinset Diver Course”(see below). May I stress that ALL members of the club whether just getting into or currently diving with a Twinset will benefit from this course, as certain procedures and planning are developed not included in any of your previous training. It also leads onto the Accelerated Decompression Procedures running in March, any Sports divers that completes this course and the upcoming ADP can increase their depth limit to 40m. Although this SDC is only open to Sports Divers and above, any Trainees or Ocean divers would greatly benefit from sitting in on the Saturday theory and practical lessons as you will almost certainly be diving with Twinset divers in the near future and so an insight into Twinset equipment and techniques will be a great advantage. Again all members please do your best to take part as this really is of benefit to your diving. How to ensure you carry sufficient gas for your planned dive and appropriate configuration methods A central theme running through this course and a basic principle of twin-set diving is self sufficiency within a buddy diving context. This concept translates in practice as adopting an attitude and equipment provision that supports oneself as the first port of call response for resolving a problem. This course complements and supports the Accelerated decompression procedures course (ADP). Entry requirement, Entry level is BSAC Sports Diver with depth expereince to 35m, plus 20 additional dives. Alternatively, students must hold an acceptable diving qualification with another agency which equates to the above standards (35m). What youâll learn The Twin-set Diving course has a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons, teaching you: ⢠Configurations, Ancillary Equipment & Failure Mode Responses ⢠Dive planning and monitoring ⢠Practical Equipment configuration ⢠Open Water practice Learning materials Your course pack includes all the learning materials you need for the course. The pack includes: Twin-set Diving course manual and a Qualification Card application. Course costs… £45 per diver ( Stoney entrance and air-fills not included) Sitting in on lectures only.. £3. All fees payable on the day. Deadline for entrance is Monday 19th Kind regards Steve Cheesmond Diving Officer BSAC Mansfield 735.

Apologies regarding the previous message I sent out. The pool session is still on but their will be no training (instructors being away should have given me a clue ) however normal service resumes after the aforementioned club trips.
On saturday the 19th of July there will be a try dive session of 10 or 12 kids.
Can everyone who can take try dives give me a yes or a no if you can help out please. Asap.
I would like to do the whole lot in one go if possible. Obviously its down to kit and who can take one. If not it will be half snorkeling and half diving then swap over.
If anyone has any club 7 or 10ltr cylinders or small BCs it would be appreciated if we could have them back just for this one session please. Will probably need some extra regs if anyone has any spare also.
Also it would be a good idea to cancel any training for that day but it doesn’t stop any trainees getting in the pool and having a poddle about.
Again let me know if you can help out please. Text or email or carrier pigeon.
