PLEASE NOTE THE DATES FOR THIS SDC HAVE BEEN AMENDED Hi All, This year we are going to be running some Skill Development Courses (SDC’s) within the club, some of which have not yet been run within the East Midlands region, therefore will be open as regional SDC’s. The first course runs on Saturday 31st January at the clubhouse and Sunday 1st February at Stoney Cove. This is the “Twinset Diver Course”(see below). May I stress that ALL members of the club whether just getting into or currently diving with a Twinset will benefit from this course, as certain procedures and planning are developed not included in any of your previous training. It also leads onto the Accelerated Decompression Procedures running in March, any Sports divers that completes this course and the upcoming ADP can increase their depth limit to 40m. Although this SDC is only open to Sports Divers and above, any Trainees or Ocean divers would greatly benefit from sitting in on the Saturday theory and practical lessons as you will almost certainly be diving with Twinset divers in the near future and so an insight into Twinset equipment and techniques will be a great advantage. Again all members please do your best to take part as this really is of benefit to your diving. How to ensure you carry sufficient gas for your planned dive and appropriate configuration methods A central theme running through this course and a basic principle of twin-set diving is self sufficiency within a buddy diving context. This concept translates in practice as adopting an attitude and equipment provision that supports oneself as the first port of call response for resolving a problem. This course complements and supports the Accelerated decompression procedures course (ADP). Entry requirement, Entry level is BSAC Sports Diver with depth expereince to 35m, plus 20 additional dives. Alternatively, students must hold an acceptable diving qualification with another agency which equates to the above standards (35m). What you’ll learn The Twin-set Diving course has a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons, teaching you: • Configurations, Ancillary Equipment & Failure Mode Responses • Dive planning and monitoring • Practical Equipment configuration • Open Water practice Learning materials Your course pack includes all the learning materials you need for the course. The pack includes: Twin-set Diving course manual and a Qualification Card application. Course costs… £45 per diver ( Stoney entrance and air-fills not included) Sitting in on lectures only.. £3. All fees payable on the day. Deadline for entrance is Monday 19th Kind regards Steve Cheesmond Diving Officer BSAC Mansfield 735.
